Incremental backup with Backup Premium

Backup Premium supports the incremental backup as the most reliable and effective way of backing up files and uses it as a default option.

Incremental backup

Incremental Backup screenshot In contrast to the full variant, during the incremental backup only new files and the files, which have been changed since the last session, are copied to the storage. Other files during the incremental variant of backup are not taken at all. So if you choose to use the incremental backup then during the first session the full backup is made and all the necessary data are copied to the storage but during the next sessions the incremental backup will be selective and only new and changed files will be transferred. Every time after the incremental backup you have the latest versions of all your files stored in a secure place. The main advantage of the incremental backup is the economy of time and Internet traffic because there is no need to transfer the file versions that are already stored. However, with this variant of backup the following quite rare situation is possible. Some files that you haven't changed for a long time can be accidentally damaged on the backup storage but you don't know about this and the damaged versions are not replaced.

Full backup

During the full backup all the files are transferred to the reserve storage regardless of whether they have been changed since the last backup session or not. The advantage of such a backup is that all the important files are regularly saved and their latest versions are securely stored. On the other hand, this is the main disadvantage because every time it is necessary to transfer a large amount of data, which takes time and results in extra costs, especially if the files are backed up on a remote ftp server.

Version backup

The version backup is a variant for the most demanding users. Its idea is to store not only the latest versions of the files but all the necessary previous ones. So, with this variant of the backup during the session the latest versions of your files are copied to the storage but the previous ones are not deleted. In the future you can restore any version you need in case you make the version backup regularly enough. The advantage of the version backup is the possibility to trace the history of changing data. However, every time you need more and more disk space to store new versions, which is a disadvantage.
